Treadwell’s hosts classes and courses, presented by experienced and gifted practitioners at our invitation. Booking in advance is essential, and is made with payment. For most courses we have a non-refundable deposit. If you sign up to a course but discover doesn't suit you, you can just let Treadwell's know after the first class and we will gladly issue a full refund. We have an archive of past courses, and you can also subscribe to our mailing list.

The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram:
A Mini-Workshop Evening

An evening working one of the core individual rites of the Western ceremonial tradition. If you are starting out in ceremonial magic, and want to get some in-person experience, this evening is for you. This night teaches you the LBRP (as it is fondly called) from start to finish, with lots of practice and coaching, so that when you go home, you can incorporate it into your practice -- if you so wish. The tutor is a longstanding magical practitioner grounded in Western ceremonial, ritual magic and esoteric kabbalah. NOTE: this is a repeat of the sold-out workshop given in May.

A Mini-Workshop Evening

An evening with a core solitary ritual (made famous by Israel Regardie's book of the same name) of Western ritual magic, led by an experienced practitioner. This night is aimed at people starting out in ceremonial magic, who wish to supplement their reading and solitary work with some guidance and coaching. The evening is experiential and teaches the Middle Pillar Ritual to the point that those attending will know it well enough to practice it at home, incorporating into daily work if desired. Made up of some talk, some small group discussion on devotion, ceremony, spirituality, and relationship with deity. Your Own Hypnosis and Trance-Induction:
methods for magicians, pagans and shamanic workers

Mark Smith leads an evening workshop on methods of hypnosis to induce using trance states and to work on the patterns of your unconscious mind in your magical practice. It's an evening in which a magical practitioner who is also a clinical hypnotherapist will share techniques you can use to enhance visualisations and pathworkings and to intensify your ritual workings -- whether you work in chaos magic, Shamanic journeying, general meditation or witchcraft. it will go through the three levels of trance; trance induction and deepening including visual (sight), auditory (sound) and kinaesthetic (touch). Plus fractionation techniques, fixation techniques and progressive relaxation. Practical exercises through the evening mean you can immediately apply these methods. Water Witching:
An Afternoon Practical Workshop

The ancient art of water witching is an occult skill which has long been at the heart of country lore -- real and practical, grounded in the English agricultural landscape. Also called dowsing, it's been more recently used for purposes other than finding water, but today's workshop starts you out at the root tradition: water witching itself. An hour and a half session, with practice, fun experiments, and including a set of rods for you to take home after. Peter Matthews has been involved in the teaching of dowsing for many years.

Foundation Course for Beginners

Learn how to read and work with the tarot card tradition with a gifted, experienced teacher. In an active lively class, you progress from basics to more complex classic tarot, grounded in mystical symbolism. Includes homework, handouts, and backup support. By the end of the course students can do basic readings for others and use tarot in meditation. Bring a Rider-Waite deck or similar. Tutor: Diana Taylor has been reading tarot for 14 years following her training in the Western tradition, and has continued her studies with teachers such as Rachel Pollack. History of Western Magic:
Eight Week Lecture and Seminar Course

Spanning the millennia from Stonehenge to Emerald Tablet to Grimoires, Golden Dawn, Crowley, Wicca and Chaos, this course traces both historical development of Western magic, and the core ideas in Western Esotericism. Students will come away with a solid knowledge of the roots underpinning the main magical traditions today. This course is for those with a desire for a solid foundation in Western Magic with a historical basis. Each evening will consist of an illustrated lecture (50-minutes) and a seminar discussion. There will be reading assignments, handouts, and an extensive reading list. Applicants need to comfortable reading academic and popular prose, and be prepared to do about four hours of reading weekly. This intensive, engaging class offers a solid grounding in classic tarot. The mystical symbolism, the key archetypes and the card meanings are all taught in a vibrant class, by a tutor with 30 years experience. Classes have diverse activities: lecture, discussion, pair-work, meditation, and practice sessions, so that you will finish the course able to do basic tarot readings and use it in personal work.
