About The Event
Traditions of greening and garlandry are integral to the old folk customs of midwinter.
In this online workshop, Hannah Sanders invites participants to celebrate the passage of the year by bringing the evergreen indoors. The group explores the rich folklore and occult meanings of ivy, holly and other Yuletide plants. Hannah then demonstrates how to craft the traditional adornments of the season, teaching students how to select their Yule log, create swags and boughs, and weave wreaths and garlands. Suitable for both experienced practitioners and beginners to plant work, everyone will leave with their own handmade decoration, woven with the revelries of the season.
Please bring: evergreens from your local area (ivy, holly, pine, mistletoe, juniper, cedar or hellebore), scissors, string, tea lights, and lighter or matches.
Hannah Sanders has a doctorate in anthropology and is a longstanding practitioner of folk and herb magic. She was the last apprentice of writer…
