About The Event
Compiled by folklorist Charles Leland in 1899, Aradia, or the Gospel of the Witches purports to be a text allegedly describing the beliefs and practices of a secret community of witches in Italy. Its origins are much disputed, but the text has since proved greatly influential, particularly in the witchcraft revival of the early twentieth century and the evolution of Wicca. This workshop by Suzanne Corbie introduces attendees to the many spells contained in the text, supposedly performed by Italian witches and with intriguing titles such as the Invocation to the Holy Stone, the Conjuration of the Lemon and Pins, the Witch’s Supper or Treguenda, and the Conjuration of the Wine, Oatmeal and the Salt. Suzanne discusses a selection of these spells and offers suggestions for how they might be adapted and performed by the modern witch.
Suzanne Corbie is a Wiccan priestess of over forty years' experience, and was previously a tarot reader for Treadwell's.
