Subtitled, ‘Myths and Folk Tales of Sacred Healing Plants,’ this book is a treasure trove of knowledge of botanical folklore complete with colour and black and white illustrations.
This book contains a collection of herbal plants and their folklore history in the form of an anthology. Each contributor is a storyteller who chose which plant to work with based on their specialism and heritage, including stories and facts about each addition. One of the overarching themes that characterises this book is the ways in which plants were often referred to as if they were sentient beings in manuscripts from the past. In this way, the plants included in this text are brought to life not only in relation to the deities and stories they are commonly associated with, but as deities and characters in their own right. The illustrations found throughout this book were created by Sherry Robinson.
